Happenings in the Trumbulls lives

This past Sunday night our pastor did his second message on what is Worship. The first thing people in America think of when someone says worship is......music. But worship is so much more than that. I'm looking forward to the study as pastor goes through the old testament meaning and new testament meaning. And then talks about how it relates to our worship today.
This is one of the many things that Tom and i will miss about our church...the great teaching that we get every sunday. Our pastor doesn't tell well meaning stories or take one verse and comment on what he thinks about it. He teaches the people the one meaning that God intended for that passage of scripture based on the immediate context and surrounding passages. Our sunday school class with him has been on Biblical Hermanuetics. I had this class in college, but of course when it's a class, you're just trying to learn and get a good grade. It's been so good to just sit and learn this time. It has reminded me of a lot of things i had forgotten about.
Tom and i are praying about finding a good church in the area that we are moving to. I think we'll start making some trips over there sometime soon b/c we want to find a place to live near wherever we find the church God would have us at. Right now we are currently waiting for the DPT class to be filled. Then when that is filled they will send tom's name to the financial aide office so that we can apply for loans for school. Until that all goes through we have no idea what we will be able to afford to live in. So, that is what we are waiting on right now. We're hoping to move in the beginning of August...but we wait on the Lord's timing. We know that He already has the church and house/apartment picked out for us....and He'll let us know when the timing is right.
Hope that everyone had a wonderful Easter celebrating the Lord's death, burial and RESURRECTION!!!

Amanda,

Thanks for the birthday greetings. I totally understand the struggle of looking for a new church. After Mike and I got married, it really took us a year and half before we found a good church that we could join and be comfortable in. The music standards down here just aren't what we want in a worship service setting. After 7 months in that church, we moved and had to start all over again. We finally just joined another church in our new area. This church just isn't that friendly. We don't really feel like we fit in at all, but it has what we need Biblically (other than fellowship), so we are staying for the time being. I'll pray that the Lord leads you to the right church quickly. Have a great day!

Glad to hear you are in a biblical teaching church. I agree about not listening as well as I should've in college. I guess it's a process and as long as you never stop learning! I felt like I had more questions when I graduated. I know as an ed major I felt like I didn't get as much Bible, but maybe that's changed. My husband and our church here have been instrumental in growing in theology.

Oh my, I totally empathize with Sandra's story and I can attest to the difficulty of finding a good church home. We have been here in Ohio since September and have yet to find a church for our family. It's been an interesting and very sad experience church hunting. Sad to see what shallow and vague preaching is going on in this world. Thankfully, Michigan is a very Christian state. I'm sure there are heaps of churches to choose from in Grand Rapids. My bro-in-law's family go to a church out in Lowell, about 20 minutes from Grand Rapids. I can find out the particulars if you think you guys would be interested in their church.

Thanks all for praying for us. We do appreciate it.

Alicia--there is a new church plant in Grand Rapids that our church supports. So i think we'll start there and see if that is where the Lord would have us. Hopefully that is the only place we'll look, but we don't know until we go and check it out. Tom and i are both familiar with church planting so we;re hoping that is the place that God would put us. When Tom first began thinking about grand rapids, we began praying for a church over there. Not too long after, this church plant was started.
So, we'll see what happens. You can just send the info. from your bro-in-law's church and we'll put it among the list to check out.

Thanks again everyone for your prayers and input. I know that the Lord will lead us to where He'd have us.

Good luck on the church search. That is something I have really struggled with since moving to Iowa. It is really difficult. I have been here three years and just don't feel at home anywhere. I just keep searching and praying.

I will pray for you too Amanda! TURBO...Such memories come to my mind when I say that name :) I hope you don't share my names :) at least yours aren't embarrassing! Are you looking to minister in a church (music/preaching...)? Brent and I are involved in a church plant. 2 years ago we planted Norway Baptist Church. We love it and are growing.

janeen--that can be so frustrating to find a church. We'll be praying for you too as you search for the church the Lord has for you too.

Carissa--or should i say W.... oh, i haven't revealed your nickname from college! :) Those names do bring back good times though. Thanks for the prayers. I'll probably be involved with music somehow wherever the Lord puts us. How exciting about the church the Lord has given you both. We'll be praying for you too as you minister to the people the Lord has given to you.

Hi, to you too, Amanda! It was good to see your blogspot, and hear from you. I am glad you both are doing so well! You look great, and yes, lets keep in touch!

What church do you guys go to in Michigan? We miss our church out there, but love the new one we are in too. My dad is one of the pastors here, so I better say that, right?
Love you,
Alyssa
