Battling the pounds
I don't know about the rest of you, but i sure have noticed how hard it is to keep the weight off after getting married. It just seems to come on gradually without me really noticing that anything is wrong. Then one day i check my weight and I am flabbergasted by what i read on the scale. I start to think how did this happen and realize that each month i put on 2-3 pounds...not much...but sooner or later it all added up. So, i've decided to do something about it by exercising. My aunt recently showed me a dvd put out by "Biggest Loser" and i've been doing that here and there. I know i need to be more committed, but so many days i just don't feel like doing it. Anyone else struggling? Maybe we need to encourage each other in the pursuit to be fit and healthy.

uh, yeah. That would be me - for as long as I can remember caring about my appearance. Don't laugh at me, but I'm reading a book on health and weight by Dr. Phil (after all, I am a SAHM, so I watch shows like his. :)) I also checked out "Eat, Drink and Be Healthy" from the library. It's a Havard study on nutrition - I read it a few years ago, and it was so helpful to educate myself on what kind of foods I really should be trying to eat. This is seriously one of my biggest struggles, and I need all of the encouragement I can get!
I second that emotion. Since the delivery of Chloe I've become professional at making excuses for my weight. I have a goal to lose 8 more pounds to be down to my target weight but I'm not doing anything too active to get there. I'd like to start jogging but who has time for that? My eating habits are also slackened now that I'm home all the time. The trick for me is just to not have anything bad in the house. My mom was just here to visit and she brought me all kinds of goodies . . . I gained at least 2 pounds from the decadent weekend. :( I could use the encouragement too!

yep, i put on extra weight when we first got married...lost it all through a Bible study/weight loss program Mrs. Seely did for fac/staff wives at nbbc. It was a program where you counted calories, but they had to come from different food groups. We also made sure to drink water, and exercise. Anyways, since having Esther I'm back where I started...I need all the help I can get too.
Well, it sounds like all of us need a little encouragement to help us get into shape. I know i do alot better when i'm held accountable for getting excercise. And I know doing something is better than nothing. So, maybe once in a while we can ask each other how things are going. Try to make a commitment to exercise at least 3x a week. I know my doctor encouraged me to get in 100 min. a week.
If anyone has any other suggestions as to how we can encourage each other, that would be great!
Amanda -
i am only recently married and troy and i are already seeing how easily we get into habits...so we have started running again together so that will hopefully help us both get into shape - we do have a 1/2 marathon to run in about 7 weeks....this will be my 6th one and troy's 2nd one so you can be praying for us...also my parents were needing your parents email address. I guess they sent them a prayer letter and it came back to them.
Thanks Amanda! Also - yahoo on the good news! Very excited for you! :)
Amanda,
I ran across your blog and saw this one and had to agree. I'm working on a program called Power 90. You exercise six days a week for 90 days and have 4 different workouts to choose from. They have helped me some, but I just need to gain back some discipline in eating. It was so much easier when exercise was fun - like volleyball practice or coaching and playing with the girls. Anyway - good to hear you are doing well.
